I have been thinking and working on the questions “Who gets access to?” and "Who gets to belong?” These are not just questions we have been facing at our country's borders. I find myself asking these questions in the many communities I move through: queer radicals, dancers, artists, city government, feminists, politicians, activists. I have seen an echoed parallel struggle; a turning over moral superiority, inclusion/exclusion, boundaries, borderlines, the community body. Who is allowed, and who is silenced? Who thrives, and who is disposable? What is accountability, and who deserves it?
As a person who studies movement, I study these questions at the borderlines of my body and through the experiment of improvisational performance. I try to imagine creative outcomes. I try to imagine equality and balance. I try to create live performance, in which, we can bear witness to possibilities, moments of accountability and deep listening.
